UF Health Durbin Park, a 42.5-acre health and wellness campus in St. Johns County, Florida, has completed its first phase of development, significantly enhancing medical service accessibility in Northeast Florida. The development features a three-story, 72,000-square-foot medical office building and a five-story, 220,000-square-foot hospital, both of which have been constructed within the expanding Durbin Park community. Stellar, the primary construction manager, played a crucial role in this project, collaborating with Gresham Smith for the design.
The medical office building at UF Health Durbin Park offers a range of specialty services including general surgery, gynecology, heart and vascular care, laboratory services, neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, outpatient rehabilitation, pain management, and urology. Adjacent to this, the newly constructed hospital consists of 99 inpatient beds and a 24-hour emergency department. It provides acute, intensive, and emergency care, as well as operating rooms, advanced imaging, and hybrid laboratories for interventional procedures. Stellar’s project management was conducted through a joint venture with Batson-Cook Construction.
In addition to the medical facilities, Stellar managed the construction of a standalone central energy plant, supplying critical infrastructure to the entire campus. The completion of this first phase is part of a larger $1 billion investment by UF Health Durbin Park, which is projected to generate approximately 2,000 jobs and cater to the growing population of St. Johns County and Jacksonville.
