Netflix is moving forward with its live-action Scooby-Doo! series, which will feature a young cast for the iconic roles of Fred, Daphne, Shaggy, and Velma. The show, a collaboration between Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio, is being helmed by showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
The plot is set during the gang’s final summer at camp. There, they meet a lonely Great Dane puppy who becomes a crucial witness to a mysterious supernatural murder. This event forces the group into a terrifying investigation that could reveal their deepest secrets. The series is described as a modern reimagining that combines mystery, friendship, and supernatural suspense.
The series is planned for eight hour-long episodes. Its current working title is Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series. Filming, which was initially expected to begin in the fall of 2025, has been delayed. The new target for the start of production is early 2026.
This new adaptation aims to be a fresh take on the beloved cartoon, blending nostalgic elements with a contemporary plot. The focus on the gang’s origins and a more serious, supernatural-tinged mystery is expected to appeal to a broad audience. Fans are eagerly awaiting casting announcements, especially for the young Great Dane that will play Scooby.
